A file-folder is used as a place to store data-files (see Section 22.214.171.124, “Data-file”).
When you select a file-folder, then a list of the contained data-files will be shown in the preview area (see screenshot below). If you click on a data file within this list, then the file will be opened in a new browser window or if the browser cannot display the content of the file, you will be asked whether you want to save the file in your filesystem or want to open it with the application that is registered for the given file-extension.

You can rename a file-folder by selecting "Edit properties" from the context menu or by double-clicking the folder.
